Portfolio Manager III – NGC Management
Next Gear Capital, a Cox Automotive company, is hiring a Portfolio Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of dealer clients across the assigned Philadelphia territory. The role focuses on building and maintaining relationships, optimizing client use of lines of credit, mitigating pre‑default risk, and supporting post‑default collections.
Responsibilities- Act as floor plan subject matter expert to optimize each client’s use of the line of credit within an assigned portfolio ($50,000–$2,500,000).
- Engage with clients in person or virtually to drive revenue, maximize profitability through prudent account management, controlled growth, and risk mitigation.
- Educate clients on performance behaviors, self‑service options, best practices, and coach them to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Collect and analyze client financial information and internal dashboards to assess dealer performance, drive growth, and manage risk.
- Utilize company–provided data tools to identify growth opportunities and target clients with financial distress.
- Collaborate with Risk and Recovery to mitigate pre‑default risk and collect on defaulted accounts within a specified timeframe, minimizing loss and maximizing recovery.
- Inspect inventory, audit accuracy, and repossess as necessary to ensure quality control and inventory reconciliation.
- Serve as a fiduciary for the company by reporting material non‑compliance, fraud attempts, or other circumstances requiring attention.
- Maintain integrity and strive for the best outcome for clients and the company.
- Document all conversations, activities, and client interactions in Salesforce as required by company KPIs and complete all Salesforce campaigns.
- Onboard new clients to ensure a positive and successful experience.
- Cultivate cross‑functional business unit relationships and capture opportunities within Cox Automotive.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the automotive and finance industries.
- Proficiency in reading and analyzing financials (profit & loss, balance sheet, tax returns, bank statements).
- Strong financial acumen with working knowledge of key financial tools and terminology.
- Ability to identify risk indicators through data tools.
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with clients and collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to manage deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and collection skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a remote environment.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Salesforce.
- BA/BS with 4+ years of related experience in finance, client‑facing, customer service, B2B, account management, and/or collections required.
- Combination of an MS degree and 2+ years, or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree, also acceptable.
- Automotive and/or floorplan industry background preferred.
- Financial knowledge and acumen preferred.
- Ability to visit clients at least 60% of the time with occasional overnight travel.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Valid driver’s license required.
