As an Income Maintenance Caseworker in a Processing Center, you will be responsible for answering customer phone calls and assisting with case inquiries, case maintenance, and eligibility determination, communicating on a continuous basis with customers and other members of the public.
After attending an 8‑week Income Maintenance Standard Training Program (IMSTP), you will complete your job duties in an office setting. Key responsibilities include answering customer phone calls and assisting with case inquiries, maintaining cases, determining eligibility for financial assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, nursing home care, and waivers, and any additional programs the department administers in accordance with state regulations. You will interview customers over the phone;
review, interpret, and apply policy; data‑enter information into an automated eligibility determination system; perform manual calculations; and type clear case comments. All work must be completed within deadlines in accordance with federal and state policy. The role is conducted under the general supervision of an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor.

- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch (subject to change based on operational needs)

- Work conditions: assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. Employees in counties with District Offices may be reassigned to different sites due to operational needs, in compliance with contract language.
- Telework:
This position may be eligible for part‑time telework. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. Telework requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, the option to report to the headquarters office in Johnstown is available. Telework eligibility is subject to change. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at a starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).
- Minimum of four years of experience in interviewing or work requiring analysis and interpretation of data, or a baccalaureate degree, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirement within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Preference may be given to candidates who live within Cambria County; if none qualify, other counties may be considered.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer requires submission of criminal history reports.
- Must pass a background investigation, including an enhanced background check under IRS Publication 1075.
- Qualified veterans receive employment preference under Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. §7103).
