Position Overview
Join the Erie County Assistance Office as an Income Maintenance Caseworker and help connect individuals and families with essential support. This role gives you the chance to guide customers through important services that can change their lives. Responsibilities- Eligibility Review:
Evaluate applications and determine eligibility for programs such as financial assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, Nursing Home Care, and Waivers. - Customer Interviews:
Conduct phone and in‑person interviews to gather information and understand customer circumstances. - Policy Application:
Interpret and apply state and federal regulations to ensure accurate case decisions. - Data Entry:
Enter information into automated systems and perform manual calculations for case processing. - Case Documentation:
Write clear and thorough case comments to record changes and document decisions. - Deadline Management:
Complete all assigned work within required time frames and established procedures.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch. Hours may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime and travel as operationally necessary.
- Telework:
Position may be eligible for part‑time telework under specified requirements. - Work conditions:
Assigned duties performed in a controlled office environment; reassignments to different sites may occur. - Salary:
Starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes). - Free parking available.
- Four years of experience in interviewing or work requiring the analysis and interpretation of data; or
- A bachelor’s degree; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered if they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Hiring preference may be given to candidates who live within Erie County.
- Conditional offer of employment requires submission of criminal history reports and background investigation.
- Position requires access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and an enhanced background check as required by IRS Publication 1075.
