Essential Functions, Primary Responsibilities and Objectives:Faculty/instructional staff must be effective in teaching and knowledgeable in subject matter as documented by appropriate professional credential(s)/certification(s), education, and experience in the designated content area. For all didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction to which a student is assigned, there must be a qualified individual(s) clearly designated by the program to provide instruction, supervision, and timely assessments of the student's progress in meeting program requirements.
The Clinical Preceptor/Laboratory Assistant is responsible for supervising students at clinical sites to ensure completion of required surgical cases for the Surgical Technology Program, as assigned by program officials, while also supporting laboratory instruction by assisting with course activities and providing students with additional hands-on practice to enhance learning and promote course success.
This is a semester based, 24 hour/week non-tenure track position.
Essential Functions:Competencies:
- Highest Academic Degree of Surgical Technology education, an Associate Level Degree, or education level needed to achieve Credentials of Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
- Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
- College teaching experience in health care or related fields preferred.
- Experience supervising and educating Surgical Technology students preferred.
- Familiarity or experience with CAAHEP Accreditation requirements for Surgical Technology programs preferred.
