Position Summary

Development of program curriculum in compliance with trauma informed care for first responders/veteran populations. Also, responsible for all coordination of activities and overall facilitation of clinical flow of patient throughout the course of treatment. Overall coordination of a patient’s care while in residential services, including integration with family services, sessions, communication with referral sources, assessment of patient progress, and communication to the clinical team regarding special treatment needs and procedures.

  • Provide treatment to patients using evidence-based techniques such as motivational interviewing, DBT, and EMDR.
  • Must be certified or working towards certification in EMDR, and/or DBT.
  • Provide both individual and group counseling per Federal/State requirements.
  • Screen and assess patients for common substance abuse and mental health disorders utilizing psychometric screening assessments.
  • Develop and complete a relapse prevention self-management plan with patients who have achieved their treatment goals and are soon to be discharged from treatment.
  • Assists the Director in providing leadership to employees by promoting harmony among co-workers and clearly reinforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Interpretation of policies and procedures to be able to provide supervision in all clinical matters to staff and patients.
  • Participate in ongoing training per program/State/Federal requirements.
  • Participates in all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Maintains visibility in all areas on all shifts through rounding and regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Recognize symptoms of addictions according to ASAM and DSM V criteria.
  • Meet with patients that have police, fire, EMS, and military backgrounds.
  • Act as liaison to current and potential Shield Program patients and referral sources, in conjunction with external marketers.
  • Document interactions in KIPU EMR with patients.
  • Attend conferences with external marketing team to represent and educate public and potential referral sources on Shield Program.
  • Provide training and education to staff on how to interact with SHIELDS and STARS patients utilizing a trauma informed approach.
Knowledge, Education, & Experience
  • Minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited university in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work
  • Possesses extensive work experience with 1st Responders and Veteran populations
  • Professional licensure (LPC, LCSW, LSW) required.
  • Other professional licensures preferred are: CADC, CAADC, DBT certified, CCTP certified, EMDR certified or working towards one of these certifications.
