Job Summary

Provides safe, ethical, and competent evidence‑based nutritional therapy that meets the standards of practice and the scope of practice as stated by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Manages the individual’s nutrition care in collaboration with the health care team and other nutrition professionals.

Job Duties
  • Use the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ and Nutrition Care Process to assess individual needs through synthesis of information obtained through the assessment interview, food and nutrition and related histories, review of the medical record, and discussions with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Develop a plan to meet assessed needs, including recommendations regarding diet composition, meal patterns, supplements, and the volume, rate, and composition of parenteral and enteral feedings.
  • Confere with the health care team to develop patient‑care goals.
  • Document clinical assessments and care plans in accordance with established standards.
  • Evaluate nutritional status of individuals and make recommendations for optimal care.
  • Counsel individuals, families, and care providers on normal nutrition and therapeutic diets, considering educational, cultural, and socioeconomic factors.
  • Plan and conduct group classes on various nutrition topics as indicated.
  • Write nutrition‑related orders for hospitalized patients in accordance with the Clinical Nutrition policy.
  • Consult, educate, and advocate on behalf of individuals, groups, and special populations regarding food, culinary, nutrition and health issues, food security, nutrition programs, and wellness resources.
  • Plan continuing nutrition care using ancillary resources as needed.
  • Self‑evaluate results and monitor for trends related to workload productivity.
  • Compile statistics and complete Clinical Productivity worksheets on a timely basis.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives to meet strategic goals.
  • Actively participate in appropriate committees and represent the Clinical Nutrition department in decisions made by these committees.
  • Precept students, mentor, and train new staff members, colleagues, and other members of the care team as applicable.
  • Perform work in a clinical environment, ensuring all job‑specific obligations and compliance with organizational policies and procedures are met.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field required.

Licensure:
Pennsylvania Registered Dietitian License required. Applicants must be registered or eligible to sit for registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or qualify under a reciprocity agreement with CDR in conjunction with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. New graduate dietitians graduating within 1‑2 months will be considered.

  • Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist certification.

  • Ability to develop and implement nutrition therapy plans.
  • Excellent communication and counseling abilities.
