Responsible for front line support to the department. Coordinates and performs front line office activities efficiently for the department. Greets and registers incoming patients, supports the check‑out process, and schedules future appointments as applicable.
Job Duties- Check patients in for appointments and accurately verify demographics.
- Ensure all check‑in procedures are completed, monitor patient wait times, and communicate changes to patients.
- Read and interpret insurance responses; understand general guidelines and insurance rank requirements to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
- Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtain required legal and financial signatures.
- Communicate financial obligations to patients, collect fees at time of service, and complete all necessary regulatory forms with patients.
- Schedule any necessary follow‑up appointments for specialty or ancillary services when possible.
- Process multi‑channel messages related to patient and physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
- Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibility (copays, deductibles, coinsurance) and collect accordingly.
- Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
- Abide by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights.
- Work independently with work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
- Maintain productivity and quality performance expectations; maintain high regard for confidentiality; accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases.
- Assist with referrals and pre‑certifications at the time of encounter; properly utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
This is a part‑time position, 20 hours per week.
EducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – Required
ExperienceMinimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred)
