The Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections role with the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers a powerful opportunity to lead mental health services within a secure correctional facility at the State Correctional Institution (SCI)  guide programs that support individuals as they face the daily realities of incarceration and the unique challenges of a structured correctional setting. Your leadership strengthens staff performance, builds teamwork, and ensures that clinical practices meet the complex needs of a prison environment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees and directs psychological services at SCI Mahanoy and serves as a clinical and administrative leader. The role ensures effective delivery of mental health support and supervises key program functions. As a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Leadership:
    Supervise and guide psychological services staff in clinical and administrative tasks
  • Clinical Evaluation:
    Conduct evaluations and direct the use of diagnostic techniques and treatment approaches
  • Program Development:
    Manage and develop psychological programs that support inmate adjustment problems with daily living, social interaction, and work settings
  • Committee Oversight:
    Serve as Chairman of the Initial Reception Committee, Suicide Clinical Review Team, Psychiatric Review Team, Mental Health Services Review Committee, and Critical Incident Stress Management Team
  • Policy Integration:
    Develop and integrate mental health policies and ensure adherence to American Correctional Association (ACA) standards
  • Professional Consultation:
    Provide expertise to specialized units and staff regarding treatment and case planning
WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
  • One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • You must possess a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
