Hours Commitment: 40-45 hours per week (Monday–Friday)

The Benefits and HRIS Specialist provides an excellent employee experience for our staff by ensuring accuracy and urgency are used when taking care of our employee onboarding and ongoing needs and requests. This person will be responsible for the accurate, timely processing, and the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs and preparing payroll for the 300-person multi-location team. This role includes ensuring that benefits are enrolled and maintained accurately, and all payroll and benefits practices comply with applicable laws and church guidelines.

This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy, and care, as it directly affects the financial wellbeing of every staff member.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of TR to manage compensation and benefits programs that align with organizational goals and that are competitive within the market.
  • Administer employee benefit plans, including health insurance, retirement plans, vacation and sick time, housing benefits, leave (short-term and long-term disability, FMLA), and wellness programs.
  • Assist the Director of TR to educate employees on available benefits options, support the enrollment processes and conduct benefits orientations and training sessions for new hires and current employees.
  • Ensure accurate entry, updating and integrity of employee data within the HRIS and physical employee files as necessary. Ensure the confidentiality and security of employee information including compensation and benefit data.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the HRIS platform.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve issues and improve services. Ensure accurate invoicing for services.
  • Serve as a point of contact for benefits inquiries and issues, providing guidance and support to employees around benefits, policies and procedures (including responses through help ticketing system).
  • Review payroll data (including timesheets), maintain payroll records including wages, deductions, garnishments, and tax with holdings; reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies; process new hires, terminations, and pay changes; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws in order to provide bi-weekly accurate entries for the payroll clerk for processing.
  • Benefits Administration: manage enrollment, changes, and terminations for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefit plans; serve as the primary point of contact for staff benefits questions; reconcile benefits invoices against enrollment and resolve billing discrepancies; maintain compliance with ACA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations.
