Care Home Manager – An Acarsaid, Isle of Skye

NHS Highland is seeking an experienced and compassionate Care Home Manager to lead the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred care within our residential care home on the Isle of Skye. The successful candidate will act as the Registered Manager with the Care Inspectorate and hold overall responsibility for the safe, effective and efficient operation of the service. You will ensure that residents receive care that promotes dignity, respect, independence and wellbeing, in line with National Care Standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide visible leadership to the care home team, promoting a culture of compassion, dignity and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care for all residents.
  • Act as the Care Inspectorate Registered Manager, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and overseeing care planning, reviews and quality assurance processes.
  • Manage staffing, recruitment, supervision and performance management.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage budgets and resources, ensuring efficient and safe service delivery.
  • Promote integrated working across health and social care partners.
  • Drive service development and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
  • Significant experience in a health or social care setting, including leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Care Inspectorate standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
Qualifications
  • SVQ 4 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care or relevant professional qualification.
  • Management qualification (e.g. SVQ Leadership & Management) or willingness to work towards this.
  • Registration (or eligibility) with the SSSC and Care Inspectorate.
