Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Braddock, PA. The ideal candidate will operate heavy machinery to transport raw materials, assist in production, and ensure that all equipment functions properly. The operator will work closely with other team members to maintain safe and efficient operations throughout the steel manufacturing process.

Schedule:

12 hour rotating shifts

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including loaders, forklifts, and skid steers, within the steel mill.
  • Transport materials such as scrap metal, slag, and steel products to appropriate areas.
  • Ensure all machines and equipment are properly maintained and report any malfunctions.
  • Assist with loading and unloading raw materials into production areas.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and adjust the equipment settings to maintain the smooth operation of steel production processes.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as lubricating and cleaning equipment.
  • Work closely with mill supervisors, maintenance teams, and safety personnel to address any issues or improvements.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a steel mill or industrial setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety manuals, blueprints, and other technical documents.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and compliance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (heat, cold) and various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
