Forklift Operator, General Labor
Summary:
The Fork Lift Operator drives a manually controlled powered industrial truck to transport goods and materials throughout the plant. Responsible for restacks of rolls of paper and storage of finished goods.
Your Mission:- Unload rolls of paper from trucks and move rolls to warehouse locations.
- Use scanning equipment to track and record material movement within the facility.
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition by performing daily inspections, completing first‑line preventive maintenance, and keeping maintenance checklists current; report deficiencies to the maintenance department.
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Knowledgeable of safety aspects of driving a Forklift.
- High school diploma/GED.
- 0-2 years’ shipping/receiving experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with shipping database software.
- Work schedules are normally 8 or 12 hours.
- May be scheduled for rotating days off.
- Ability to work any day, including weekends.
- Able to work any shift, including overnight shifts.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, including extra hours on short notice.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
- Climbing ladders and/or stairways.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly for up to 12 hours.
- Over 50 pounds requires two people or assisted lifting device.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to steel toe shoes, earplugs, safety glasses, and hairnet).
- Works near moving mechanical parts.
- Works on or with high voltage equipment (up to 480 volts AC).
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Moderate heat (up to 100 degrees in the summer months).
- Noise levels of up to 90 decibels.
