About this Internship

The LEDC Arts and Community Internship Program will offer the experience of working in a nonprofit organization focusing on arts and community. Internships are designed primarily for undergraduate and graduate students, although open to anyone with a strong desire and commitment. Interns will work closely with LEDC staff and will be involved with regular activities as well as special projects as needed.

Role Overview

The Arts and Community Intern’s role is to help support the LEDC in their planning and execution of community arts events while simultaneously gaining education and experience in nonprofit administration. Special areas of focus are art exhibitions, communications, and development.

Hours

This position involves a 3 to 6 month commitment, 10–16 hours a week. Hours and days of the week are flexible within the LEDC’s M‑F, 9 am‑4 pm work week. While this internship is unpaid, academic credit may be received depending on the intern’s college program.

Responsibilities
  • Research for outreach including: sites for posting open calls, targeted interest groups for exhibitions and programming, collaborative partners, competitive institutions exhibitions and programming, potential sale avenues, etc.
  • Assist in administrative and design support as needed: promotional material, exhibition collateral, and website as needed/trained.
  • Shoot, edit, and produce videos for documentation or promotional use.
  • Assist in the preparation, transportation, installation, and disassembly of exhibitions.
  • Generate and research content (photos, videos, graphics, stories, etc.) to share on LEDC’s social sites and blog.
Qualifications
  • Interest in the arts and neighborhood community building.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time‑sensitive assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Creative, flexible, self‑starter who also works well within a team; takes direction well.
