Geisinger offers a Nursing Assistant a $1500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates, a $16.25 minimum hiring rate with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Up to $40,000 in financial support is available to become a nurse.

• Perform clerical duties and direct patient care activities as needed by the unit.
• Provide patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice according to the multidisciplinary care plan established for each patient.
• Identify, observe, and document the physical needs of patients in accordance with established standards.
• Report any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
• Obtain and maintain specimen integrity according to policy and procedure and physician order.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and changing linens.
• Provide one‑to‑one patient safety watch as assigned following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately process specimens and provide timely transport to the laboratory.
• Perform point‑of‑care patient testing, instrument maintenance, and quality control.
• Assist with problem solving, troubleshooting, and corrective measures for care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students in a positive manner.
• Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths, facilitating patient throughput activities.
• Transcribe and process orders according to unit standard and release ordered tests to appropriate departments.
• Coordinate transportation of patients to multiple tests, schedule tests, fax consults, and assist in ordering supplies.
• Communicate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
• Operate, problem‑solve, and take corrective measures for clerical equipment, including scheduling maintenance of computers, fax machines, phones, etc.
• Assist with transporting medication, non‑controlled medications, and blood products as needed.
• Complete all tasks in an efficient and timely manner, satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with organization policies and procedures.
