This position supports the health needs of inmates by carrying out essential nursing care and daily treatment activities. The role ensures consistent care, proper documentation, and timely response to medical needs.

• Provide hands‑on nursing support including vital signs, medication administration, treatments, and daily living assistance.
• Observe patients to identify needs and report changes in physical or emotional status.
• Respond to urgent medical situations and deliver first aid, CPR, or AED as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records, prepare reports, and ensure proper documentation for transfers and releases.
• Manage supplies: sterilize instruments, manage inventories, and maintain adequate medical stock levels.

• Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week.
• Department of Corrections operates on three shifts covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year:
  • 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am
• Work hours to be determined.
• Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework is not available for this position.
• Salary:
  Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,558.00 (before taxes).

• Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as an LPN within one (1) year as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• If within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply. At the time of appointment you must show proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA LPN license.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
