Position Overview
Join the Southwestern Veterans Center as a Registered Nurse with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. This is your chance to support residents who have served our nation and their spouses by helping them stay healthy and comfortable. You will be part of a caring team that values teamwork and strong communication. Your work will help improve the daily lives of the residents you serve.
Responsibilities- Resident Care:
Provide nursing treatment, monitor conditions, and update care plans based on resident needs - Medication Oversight:
Dispense medications, review records, and check that assigned personnel follow proper procedures - Team Leadership:
Guide staff, assign tasks, and address concerns to maintain safe and effective care - Communication Duties:
Share important changes with supervisors, physicians, and families as needed - Safety Practices:
Follow all safety rules, report hazards, and use required protective equipment - Documentation Tasks:
Maintain accurate records, complete assessments, and support audits and reviews
- Full‑time employment, 8‑hour/day–40‑hour/week
- Shifts:
- 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) with a 30‑minute lunch
- 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) with a 30‑minute lunch
- Working every other weekend is required.
- Competitive salary and state benefits including health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance coverage; excellent vacation, sick, and holiday leave package; and retirement plan.
- No telework option.
- Starting annual salary of $93,888 before taxes for new employees in Pennsylvania.
- Participation in the Nursing Referral Program may provide payments up to $4,000.
- Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Temporary practice permit holders must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one year.
- PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
- If within 60 days of graduating from an approved nursing school, must show proof of current PA temporary practice permit or RN license at appointment.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Falls under Older Adult Protective Services Act. Conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearance).
- Conditional offer may require satisfactory completion of a medical examination.
