Job Overview

Professional nurse using the nursing process with a commitment to patient‑ and family‑centered care to serve the diverse patient population at Jefferson Health. Develops nursing plans of care with patients and their designated care partners, honoring cultural beliefs and values.

Job Duties
  • Interacts with co‑workers, patients, families, and staff in a manner consistent with Jefferson values.
  • Integrates evidence‑based practice, clinical expertise, and patients’ preferences for optimal care delivery.
  • Partners with patients and their care partners to identify learning needs, priorities, and provides appropriate education.
  • Minimizes risk of harm by following established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance standards.
  • Utilizes information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support ethical decision‑making.
  • Uses data to monitor care outcomes and applies improvement methods to design and test changes for continuous quality and safety enhancement.
  • Functions effectively within nursing and inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making.
  • Creates an inclusive environment, demonstrating problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Specialized Diploma Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Patient‑and‑Family‑Centered Practice knowledge of respectful collaboration with patients and families.
  • Cultural Awareness: ability to respect and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective Communication: mastery of tools, techniques, and partnership language for patient and family engagement.
  • Patient Assessment and Care: assessment of ailments and execution of treatment plans.
  • Patient and Designated Care Partner

    Education:

    use of child and adult education techniques.
  • Medication Administration and Prescription: knowledge of medications, administration, and outside‑hospital prescriptions.
  • Discharge Planning: partnership in developing post‑discharge plans and arranging follow‑up care.
  • Assessment and Diagnosis: use of tools for patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgment.
  • Health Information Documentation: accurate recording of medical histories, vitals, medications, diagnoses, and plans.
  • BLS – Basic Life Support certification.
  • AHA – American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of practice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN or completion of an advanced degree within three years of hire strongly preferred.
  • One year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
Additional Qualifications
  • Active RN license required in the state of practice.
Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry 40–50 lbs; push/pull patients on bed or stretcher requiring 29 lbs push force.
  • Perform lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of patient weight.
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking; patient transporters may walk 8–10 miles per shift.
  • Perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as required.
