Position: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Full Time, Nights) Torresdale-Jefferson

Job Details:

Job Duties
  • Interacts with co-workers, patients, family or designated care partners, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson’s values.
  • Integrates evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to deliver optimal care.
  • Partners with patients and their families to identify learning needs and provides education that is clear, understandable, and affirming.
  • Minimizes risk of harm by following established nursing practices and protocols.
  • Uses information technology for communication, knowledge management, error mitigation, and ethical decision‑making.
  • Uses data to monitor care outcomes and applies improvement methods to test changes for continuous quality and safety enhancement.
  • Functions effectively within nursing and inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making.
  • Creates an environment of belonging and inclusion, demonstrating problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Specialized Diploma – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Patient‑and Family‑Centered Practice – Knowledge of conveying respect and collaborating with patients and families in care planning.
  • Cultural Awareness – Ability to respectfully connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective Communication – Ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Patient Assessment and Care – Ability to assess ailments and injuries and implement treatment plans.
  • Patient and Designated Care Partner Education – Knowledge of child and adult education techniques and ability to elicit learning priorities.
  • Medication Administration and Prescription – Knowledge of medications used to treat patients, and ability to administer and prescribe as appropriate.
  • Discharge Planning – Ability to partner with patients and families to develop discharge plans and arrange follow‑up care.
  • Assessment and Diagnosis – Knowledge of tools and techniques for patient assessment and nursing diagnosis or clinical judgement.
  • Health Information Documentation – Ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and results in written or electronic form.
  • BLS – Basic Life Support – Certified through AHA or American Red Cross.
  • RN – Licensed Registered Nurse – or PA, State of Pennsylvania.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire.
  • 1 year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
Additional Qualifications
  • Active RN license required in state of practice.
Shift / Hours

Full Time/Nights – 36 hours weekly (7pm‑7am).

Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry 40‑50 lbs.
  • Push/pull patients on bed or stretcher (≈29 lbs. push force); lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient’s weight.
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking; patient transporters may walk 8‑10 miles per shift.
  • May be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR.
