OverviewPosition is an independent contract role responsible for medical care and health supervision during BBYO summer programs. Responsibilities include reviewing participant medical files, administering medications, coordinating with pharmacy and Campdoc, and responding to medical events with appropriate triage and communication to families and program leadership.
Key Position Responsibilities- Review participant medical files, noting needs, allergies, and medications to be administered during the program.
- Create and maintain medical administration records for home medications on Campdoc.
- Chart home medications on the MAR in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with the pharmacy if there are discrepancies in home medications sent to camp.
- Record assessments and over-the-counter medications administered in the health log on Campdoc.
- Maintain a daily log of medications dispensed to participants and distribute all over-the-counter medications as needed.
- Apply clinical judgment within scope of practice; deliver timely decisions and triage for medical issues among teens and staff.
- Coordinate urgent care/telehealth visits with the camp director and wellness administrator.
- Follow written orders and BBYO policies; administer tests for symptoms of COVID, strep, and flu when indicated.
- Follow policy for quarantining individuals as required; conduct lice checks and treatments when needed.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about health status changes requiring physician involvement.
- Review medications ordered in advance through the Camp Meds system; collect medications at session start and report lists of teens with medications to the Site Director.
- Oversee all emergency medical situations and travel with teens or staff needing outside treatment as necessary.
- Maintain regular communication with the director regarding significant medical issues and with families prior to camp start if specific needs must be discussed.
- Participate in trainings prior to camp start date.
- Meet physical requirements related to health-related tasks and safety during camp operations.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Active license in Pennsylvania.
- Experience working with children/adolescents is a plus.
Preference will go to candidates available for consecutive program availability.
