Job Overview
With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the professional nurse uses the nursing process in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of patients served by Jefferson Health. The role involves developing nursing plans of care with patients and their designated care partners to effectively address individualized needs and priorities consistent with cultural beliefs and values.
Responsibilities- Interacts with co‑workers, patients, families/designated care partners, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson values.
- Integrates evidence‑based practice, clinical expertise, and patient preferences and cultural beliefs into care delivery.
- Partners with patients and families to identify learning needs and priorities, providing education that is useful, understandable, and affirming.
- Minimizes risk of harm to patients and others by following established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance expectations.
- Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision making.
- Uses data to monitor care outcomes and applies improvement methods to design and test changes that continuously enhance quality and safety.
- Functions effectively within nursing and inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making.
- Creates an environment of belonging and inclusion, demonstrating problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrates a commitment to learning, seeks professional growth opportunities, and acts in a primary preceptor role for appropriate staff members.
- Participates in hospital‑ and practice‑setting committees, including safety and quality improvement.
- Gives and receives feedback and integrates appropriate changes into practice.
- Specialized Diploma Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Patient‑and‑Family‑Centered Practice knowledge.
- Cultural Awareness knowledge.

- Appropriate delegation to other team members.
- Patient Assessment, Care knowledge, and ability to implement a treatment plan.

- Assessment and Diagnosis knowledge.
- Health Information Documentation knowledge.
- BLS – Basic Life Support.
- RN (Licensed Registered Nurse) or PA – State of Pennsylvania.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire.
- 1 year previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
- Active RN license required in the state of practice.
Full time – evenings, 36 hours weekly.
Physical Demands- Lifts and carries 40–50 lbs.
- Pushes/pulls patients on beds or stretchers (requires 29 lbs. push force). Elevates to lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient’s weight.
- Frequently stands, walks, and may transport patients up to 8–10 miles per shift.
- May kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR as required.
