Position OverviewThe Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) seeks dedicated, vigilant, and responsible individuals to serve as seasonal Lifeguard in this summer season. This opportunity allows essential public safety work while enjoying scenic state park environments.
Responsibilities- Patrol designated swimming areas at Fuller Lake Beach, observe visitor activity, and assess safety conditions.
- Recognize swimmers in distress or requiring assistance and execute appropriate lifesaving methods and techniques.
- Administer first aid, artificial respiration, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for visitors of all ages.
- Inspect buoys, ropes, first aid equipment, supplies, and other safety equipment to ensure all items are in proper operating condition.
- Seasonal full‑time employment:
May 25, 2026 – September 7, 2026. - Work hours:
11:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. (30‑minute lunch). - Week‑week schedule will vary, not to exceed 37.5 hours per week; includes weekends and holidays.
- Full‑time and part‑time schedules available.
- No telework option.
- Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- Valid Lifeguard Certification issued by American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or Pennsylvania Department of Health authority within 14 days of employment.
- Valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment.
- Meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Conform to Child Protective Services Law (conditional offer requires criminal history reports: PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, FBI Fingerprint clearance).
