Overview
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with hands‑on clinical experience and exposure to day‑to‑day veterinary practice.
Internship DetailsMost externships at Dover Area Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. The program is designed for veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education.
Responsibilities- Gather patient histories
- Perform physical examinations
- Create treatment plans
- Conduct diagnostics
- Provide dentistry services
- Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures
- Manage medical care for patients
Throughout the externship students will develop clinical skills and practice communication with medical teams, support staff, and clients.
StipendStudent externs are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. An additional $500 travel stipend is offered to the amount listed in the stipend program.
