DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position supports forest maintenance, fire response, equipment operation, and other district activities across State Forest lands. The role contributes directly to public safety, resource protection, and the upkeep of essential facilities and infrastructure. As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Care:
Clean, repair, and maintain forest buildings, trails, tools, and equipment - Equipment Operation:
Operate specialized vehicles, machinery, and tools to complete maintenance tasks - Road Upkeep:
Maintain forest roads by grading surfaces and clearing rights-of-way - Emergency Response:
Respond to search, rescue, and wildfire events as trained and assigned - Forest Support:
Assist with snow removal, supply delivery, boundary work, and habitat improvement activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday and 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel may occur.
- Alternate work schedule may be available for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
