Overview
The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for supporting quality control activities at the Hillman Brass & Copper branch of the Arbor Metals Division. This role ensures materials, processes, and documentation comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality procedures. The Quality Control Coordinator reviews certifications and specifications, monitors product quality throughout the fulfillment process, coordinates corrective actions, maintains quality records, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
This position serves as a key resource for quality compliance and product conformance, working closely with operations, purchasing, suppliers, customers, and branch leadership to maintain the highest standards of quality and traceability.
- Support implementation and maintenance of the Hillman branch QMS in accordance with ISO standards, EB 2678, NAVSEA drawings, Level I requirements, and applicable industry and customer requirements.
- Maintain, and improve QMS documents, procedures, forms, and logs.
- Lead the oversight, development, and continuous improvement of the branch QMS.
- Assist with internal and external audits and support follow-up actions.
- Ensure quality procedures and work instructions remain current and accessible.
- Monitor compliance with established quality requirements throughout operational processes.
- Review customer purchase orders, and RFQs to identify, document, and communicate all quality and specification requirements.
- Review and interpret customer-imposed industry, military, and government specifications (including MIL-SPEC, ASTM, EB 2678, NAVSEA drawings, and applicable naval/defense standards), including but not limited to:

- Review purchase orders to sub-tier suppliers and outside processing facilities to ensure specification compliance.
- Prepare and maintain quality specification sheets, product logs, and compliance documentation for technically complex orders.
- Assist with review for specification compliance across the branch.
- Review mill certifications, test reports, and material certifications for compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry specifications.
- Initiate and manage hold points throughout the product realization process for technical and Level I / government-rated orders.
- Prior to shipment, compile and review complete Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) packages to ensure all customer and specification requirements have been satisfied.
- Track material testing results and maintain associated Objective Quality Evidence.
- Investigate nonconformance issues; issue and manage corrective actions in coordination with process owners and branch associates; verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Maintain the Corrective Action Request (CAR) Log, Customer Complaint Log, and related Objective Quality Evidence.
- Communicate with customers regarding quality issues, nonconformances, and corrective action status.
- Coordinate customer complaint handling from intake through resolution and closure.
- Work with the Purchasing department to monitor and maintain the approval and qualification requirements for all external suppliers.
- Measure and report on external provider performance.
- Coordinate third-party inspections, testing activities, and source inspections when required.
- Work with the Purchasing department to review supplier documentation and purchase orders to ensure compliance with branch and customer requirements.
- Assist with quality-related training for employees on procedures, specifications, product traceability, and quality requirements.
- Maintain employee training and qualification records.
- Support development and revision of quality procedures, forms, and work instructions.
- Verify material identification and traceability throughout inventory and produced material.
- Maintain material segregation between Level I and non-Level I material throughout the facility.
