We are seeking an experienced Design Quality Manager to lead and oversee the Design Group Quality Program for a growing Engineering Services firm headquartered in Montgomery County. This leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving quality systems that support multidisciplinary engineering design projects.

The ideal candidate will champion quality throughout the organization by ensuring compliance with established standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, conducting quality reviews and audits, and providing training to design staff. This individual will work closely with senior leadership, department directors, project teams, and clients to promote a culture of excellence and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Design Group Quality Assurance (QA) Program across all engineering disciplines.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and enforce quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Operations to ensure consistent application of quality processes across all design projects.
  • Monitor quality performance and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and project outcomes.
  • Prepare and present quality metrics, trends, and performance reports to senior management.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Conduct internal quality audits and manage corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure design documentation and quality control procedures comply with company standards.
  • Review engineering plans, specifications, and project deliverables for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Verify compliance with company CAD standards, document control requirements, and project quality expectations.
  • Maintain QA documentation, project quality checklists, review reports, and tracking logs.
  • Serve as the primary Quality Assurance resource for Department Directors and project teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines to resolve quality concerns and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Interface with clients regarding quality-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings and peer reviews to support successful project execution.
  • Develop and deliver quality assurance training programs for design staff.
  • Mentor employees on company quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through education, coaching, and process refinement.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience within the building design industry.
  • 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering, including:
  • Civil
  • Structural
  • Mechanical
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Process Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing quality management systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences projects.
  • Experience conducting design quality reviews and multidisciplinary coordination.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with responsibilities in both office and client-site environments.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors under varying conditions.
  • Ability to comply with cleanroom gowning and client-specific safety protocols when required.
Travel Requirements
  • Approximately 5–20% travel based on project assignments.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Extended assignments at client locations are possible.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly are required.
Safety

This is a safety-sensitive position. The successful candidate will regularly visit client facilities, including construction, manufacturing, packaging, research, and process environments, and must comply with all client and company safety policies and procedures.
