Job Profile TitleResearch Specialist B
Job Description SummaryAs Research Specialist B in the Baur Lab, take primary responsibility for execution of in vivo and in vitro studies. This includes assisting in writing and implementing protocols, conducting experiments, helping maintain equipment, ordering supplies and animals, performing data collection and analysis, and assisting the laboratory. As Research Specialist C, is expected to work under limited supervision as needed and master technical aspects of laboratory assays, ordering supplies and animals, oversee lab safety, and may supervise a team of 2-3 lab members.
Directly perform and analyze assays in rodent models that may include: body composition (NMR; DEXA); CLAMS; treadmill exercise insulin/glucose clamp and radio isotopic tracer kinetics; thermography; BAT thermogenesis; tissue chemistry; ELISA;
Glucose and insulin tolerance tests;
Mass Spectrometry. Troubleshoot equipment and software issues.
- As Research Specialist B: 1. execution of in vivo and in vitrostudies. - As Research Specialist C: 1. Work independently and master technical aspects of laboratory assays.

1. May supervise teams of 2-3 and handle administrative ordering,and safety aspects of the laboratory.
2. Aid the PI/Technical Director in interfacing with companies and Penn IT to troubleshoot equipment and software issues.
3. Additional duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's of Science preferred and 1to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with rodents in a laboratory setting required. - Research Specialist C
- Bachelor's of Science, Master's degree preferred and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with rodents ina laboratory setting required.

Pay Range$50,875.00 - $78,481.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications,experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
