Meat Sales Associate

• Keep meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand.
• Smile and greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about various cuts and preparation of products.
• Take orders for future delivery and help fulfill special requests.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
• Set up displays and rotate product as needed.
• Ensure meat is fresh, in saleable condition with proper prices and signage.
• Handle product that is spoiled, damaged or close to expiration according to company procedures.
• Remove products that are not saleable to maintain quality.
• May grind and cut certain meats and poultry.
• Weigh and wrap merchandise at customer request; apply sticker showing correct price and weight.
• Maintain necessary logs to track freshness and quality.
• Adhere to all food and personal safety codes when handling product or using kitchen tools.
• Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
• Follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
• Dispose of trash properly and empty bone cans.
• Assist in minimizing shrink and controlling damages.
• Report shortages or overages to management.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, checking‑in, breaking‑down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack if properly trained (training provided).
• Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained (training provided).
• Ensure smooth operation of the department and store by cooperating with coworkers and superiors.
• Continuously improve job performance.
• Utilize all company‑provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company‑sponsored footwear.
• May be called upon to assist in other departments.

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Completed or working toward a high school diploma or GED.
• No prior experience required.
