Location and Shift
Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) – Rotation shift, United States. Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Worker type:

Responsible for maintaining safety and security for an assigned area, conducting routine patrols, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and employees. Establishes a uniformed police presence to deter criminal activity and enforce hospital rules of conduct.
Responsibilities- Conduct routine patrols on foot or vehicle of assigned areas.
- Enforce hospital rules of conduct and complete detailed reports as required.
- Respond to acts of violence at Geisinger owned or controlled properties and potentially engage in the use of force as governed by Pennsylvania Law and Geisinger policy.
- Carry, properly handle, maintain proficiency with, and deploy lethal and less lethal weapons as prescribed by federal/state law and Geisinger policy.
- Effect arrests for certain criminal offenses and issue PA state citations for certain criminal and traffic offenses using specific law enforcement applications such as the PA Justice Network.
- Perform as a Geisinger Security Officer when necessary and handle evidence of criminal incidents on Geisinger owned properties.
- Direct traffic on hospital property, enforce traffic and parking regulations, assist patients, visitors, and employees with vehicle problems per policy and training.
- Operate security technology equipment including personal computers, CCTV systems, fire alarm system, access control systems, security alarm systems, and radios.
- Respond to requests for assistance involving patients, assist in locating patients, and assist Life Flight with unloading patients and equipment as necessary.
- Assist and direct patients and visitors to areas on the Geisinger campus, providing aid to disabled persons or others in need of physical assistance.
- Work is typically performed in an office environment.
- Experience:
2 years in law enforcement Act 120 Training or equivalent (PA State Police Academy, out of state law enforcement academy, Federal Law Enforcement academy). - Act 235 certification (pre‑requisite).
- Education:
Graduate from Specialty Training Program (required). - Preferred:
Minimum of 1 year related work experience. - Certification(s) and License(s):
Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months (default issuing body), Act 235 Certification within 6 months (Pennsylvania State Police), Act 501 Private Police Designation within 6 months (Pennsylvania State Police), Valid Driver's License. - Skills:
Communication.
