Water Distribution Crew Chief

Overview

This is field water distribution repair and maintenance work at the crew chief level directing the activities of one or more moderately sized field crews engaged in the repair and maintenance of water distribution mains and equipment or in the provision of supporting services. An employee in this class may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as duties require.

Work is performed under the supervision of a technical superior.

• Direct the activities of one or more moderately sized field crews engaged in the repair and maintenance of water distribution mains and equipment, or in the provision of supporting services.

• CIVIL SERVICE STATUS: Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status in the Water Department with a performance rating of Satisfactory or higher.
• EDUCATION: Education equivalent to completion of the tenth school grade.
• EXPERIENCE: Four years experience in the installation, repair or maintenance of water or gas distribution mains and equipment, two years of which has been at the full performance level. OR any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Personnel Department.
• PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
