The Tradesman Helper with the Department of Transportation offers a hands‑on role that keeps essential maintenance work moving. This position supports the maintenance organization by assisting with equipment repairs, building upkeep, and storeroom tasks. The role involves hands‑on work, problem solving, and steady support for daily maintenance operations. As a Tradesman Helper, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Repairs: Perform basic tasks such as replacing bulbs, hoses, filters, and batteries, in addition to assisting mechanics with complex repairs
- Storeroom Support: Help manage parts and pick up needed supplies
- Facility Maintenance: Assist with repairs and upkeep of buildings and grounds
- Job Reporting: Provide daily updates to supervisor on equipment status and completed tasks
- Work Practices: Follow attendance rules, support emergency responses, and maintain productive work habits
- Environmental Compliance: Carry out environmental protection requirements and participate in required training
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Schedule may be subject to change due to seasonal and/or operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
