Building Maintenance
Are you experienced in maintenance and passionate about creating clean, safe spaces for others? The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 2 to keep the Southeast Youth Development Center running smoothly. This hands‑on position allows you to solve problems, use trade skills, and help maintain a positive environment for youth. Each day brings new tasks that keep the job interesting and rewarding.
Your work will support the safety and success of the entire facility.
- Trade Skills
:
Perform work in carpentry, plumbing, heating and cooling, painting, masonry, and electrical areas - Vehicle Maintenance
:
Maintain Commonwealth vehicles and address safety or repair needs - Building Repairs
:
Repair or install doors, windows, partitions, drywall, roofs, and flooring - System Maintenance
:
Install or maintain plumbing fixtures, heating systems, electrical circuits, and equipment - Outdoor Work
:
Complete lawn care, snow removal, and fence maintenance tasks - Leadership Duties
:
Lead semi‑skilled workers and guide youth assigned to maintenance activities
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- This position is considered essential during weather and other emergency events

You will not have the option to telework in this position - Salary
:
Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent federal government job title)
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Special Requirement

Valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License - Other Requirements
:
Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement and be able to perform essential job functions
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law
- Under the law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
