Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor - SCI Frackville

This position focuses on instructing inmates in refrigeration mechanic skills through classroom lessons and hands‑on training. The role supports safe operations, organized work schedules, and efficient completion of daily assignments. As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

• Skill Instruction: Teach standard refrigeration mechanic practices, including installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance of systems
• Classroom Training: Deliver curriculum, maintain discipline, and track progress, attendance, and assignments
• Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews, assign daily schedules, and inspect completed work
• Tool Management: Issue, inventory, and account for materials and tools used during training and work assignments
• Supply Planning: Determine needed tools and materials and submit purchase requests when required
• Additional Tasks: Perform other related duties in support of daily operations

• Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes).

• Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems;
  or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade;
  or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.

• This position requires possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
