This position focuses on counseling and casework services that support inmate adjustment, growth, and preparation for community reintegration. As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Inmate Counseling:
Interview inmates to address adjustment concerns and provide guidance on personal, family, and behavioral issues - Case Management:
Develop and maintain records and reports that support effective communication with staff and community agencies - Assessment Review:
Analyze assessments and evaluations to determine programming needs and document inmate progress - Program Coordination:
Work with a multidisciplinary team to align programming, counseling, and activities with treatment goals - Parole Preparation:
Participate in parole planning and prepare reports and recommendations that support re‑entry success
- Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
- Telework: not available
- Starting annual salary of $63,301.00 for new employees
- Successful completion of the Corrections Counselor 1 training program; or
- One year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility, and a bachelor’s degree with 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or
- Equivalent combination of one year professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility and 18 college credits in the fields above
- Obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
- Must meet PA residency requirement
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
