Position Overview
As a County Caseworker 1 with the Columbia-Montour-Snyder-Union Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities Unit, you will help individuals and families work toward healthier and more stable lives. This position introduces you to the world of community support while allowing you to develop strong skills in case management. You will work closely with others who share a passion for helping people grow and succeed.

This position focuses on supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or serious mental illness by helping them access resources and services in their homes and communities. The role requires strong communication and teamwork skills to assist people in reaching a better quality of life.
- Case Management:
Provide support to consumers and families within their homes or communities. - Service Coordination:
Work with consumers and agencies to locate and secure community resources. - Needs Assessment:
Identify challenges and match individuals with appropriate supports. - Resource Guidance:
Assist consumers in understanding and accessing available services. - Team
Collaboration:
Coordinate efforts with staff and partners to ensure effective care.
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break.
- On day one of employment, employees earn paid vacation and sick time. In addition, the agency provides four personal days per year and 15 paid holidays, as well as health, dental and vision insurance. Tuition reimbursement is available for graduate and undergraduate courses both in‑person or online, and staff qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework, including 12 credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor's degree with or supplemented by completion of 12 credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 credit hours in the aforementioned fields and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or a similar paraprofessional case‑management role.
- You will be considered to have met the educational requirements within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position is governed by the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- According to the law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
