Position: County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Lycoming County Children & Youth Services

THE POSITION

Become a County Caseworker 1 with Lycoming County Children and Youth Services and help guide youth toward meaningful growth. This role allows you to support an evidence-based mentoring program that builds confidence and positive relationships. You will be part of a caring team that encourages learning, collaboration, and service. Make a difference every day by supporting children and volunteers in your community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow tools, resources, and supervision provided to maintain required program standards.
  • Reach out to the community to identify and engage potential volunteers, clients, and advisory board members.
  • Complete detailed assessments to determine eligibility and gather essential information.
  • Conduct orientations and training sessions for families, volunteers, and partners.
  • Plan and coordinate group activities and special events for clients.
  • Obtain information to identify social, emotional, physical, or economic needs and assist clients in accessing services.
  • Guide clients and volunteers in creating and updating Match Plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and enter required information into program systems.
  • Conduct interviews for clients and volunteers leaving the program.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Qualifications
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college-level coursework, including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree that includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
