PH - Switcher

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to and from load/unload doors and throughout the yard.
• Perform trailer switches by hooking and moving parked trailers between the yard and doors.
• Communicate with management and/or central control to coordinate trailer movements.
• Document trailer moves using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Perform package handling duties as a package handler, including hand‑to‑surface methods, loading and unloading packages onto/into delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyor carts, and load gratings.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull packages continuously for 2–4 hours.
• Scan packages, read labels, verify information, and sort packages accordingly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

None required.

No experience required; six (6) months as a package handler or experience as a switching/CDL operator preferred.

• Valid driver’s license and a current Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). to understand and follow work duties and safety instructions.
• Ability to discern numbers and information for accurate package sorting.
• Proficiency with basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand‑held scanners, chutes, and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast‑paced team environment.

• Work may occur in hot and cold temperatures.
• Work may involve exposure to fumes.
• Work may occur in a loud noisy environment.

The desired location for this position is Lewisberry, PA. Employees will be required to work at the Fed Ex location five days a week.

$23.50 hourly.

Full‑time position for the DAY/TWI sort.
