This position helps ensure that driver license applicants meet safety standards and identity rules while supporting secure and consistent service at the Driver License Center. The role contributes to safe driving practices and the prevention of identity fraud. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:
- Driving Evaluation: Check applicant driving abilities and inspect vehicles for required safety features
- Vision Screening: Administer vision tests using approved tools and methods
- Knowledge Testing: Conduct written examinations to confirm understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signs
- Document Review: Examine personal records and use systems to verify identity and detect fraud
- Customer Assistance: Process applications and provide guidance on renewals, transfers, motorcycle licenses, and CDL requirements
- Regulatory Compliance: Follow REAL , customer service policies, fee waiver rules, and Title VI standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work overtime and travel to other Driver License Centers when needed
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
- All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
