Elementary Teacher – Central Elementary – 2026–2027 School Year
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students; creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Essential Functions- Develop and administer school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate them into learning experiences.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and modify instruction to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Instruct students in principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research.
- Organize and maintain accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
- Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure student conduct conforms to school standards and district policies, establishing standards of behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with other elementary staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies while maintaining inventory records.
- Supervise students during out‑of‑classroom activities, including those involving school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and district administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
EquipmentUse standard office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, distinguishing instruction based on learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile- Delaware State Certification as a Special Education Teacher and Elementary Teacher – 1521 (See attached).
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Temporary Position: All temporary positions will end on June 30th.
Number of months/days: 10 Month – 188 Days (pro‑rated to start date).

Teacher Certification – Delaware Code Title 14 Section 1500.
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for all employees of the Seaford School District.
