Tax Principal – Small Business Advisory (Hybrid)

Schedule: Hybrid – 4 days in the office, 1 day remote, with additional flexibility available after one year based on performance and business needs.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Principal to join our growing Small Business Advisory practice. This role is ideal for a strategic tax professional who enjoys serving as a trusted advisor to closely held businesses and acting as an extension of their internal finance and accounting teams.

The successful candidate will lead client engagements, cultivate long-term relationships, mentor team members, and identify opportunities to deliver additional value through proactive tax planning and advisory services.

• Develop and manage strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for new business and expanded services.
• Lead engagements for clients across a variety of industries, ensuring high-quality service and timely delivery.
• Oversee tax compliance, tax research, planning initiatives, and client correspondence.
• Gain a deep understanding of clients’ operations and industry-specific challenges to provide meaningful strategic guidance.
• Review and prepare clear, accurate, and well-documented work papers.
• Analyze complex tax matters and business situations using sound judgment and awareness of current market and regulatory trends.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve client objectives.
• Support business development efforts, including cross-selling advisory and accounting services.
• Assist clients with special projects such as budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial planning, and tax strategy.
• Ensure engagements are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of client satisfaction.
• Lead, coach, and mentor staff while providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Active CPA or EA designation required.
• Minimum of seven years of recent experience within a public accounting firm.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
• Proven success in building and maintaining client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Teams.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed for client engagements and business development activities.

• Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Summer schedule offers shortened Fridays, with office hours ending at noon.
• This position follows a hybrid schedule consisting of four days in the office and one day remote each week

• Additional remote flexibility may be available after one year, depending on performance, tenure, and business requirements.
• Occasional additional hours may be required during peak tax seasons and other busy periods.
