Retail Operations Manager I will manage successful retail execution of McCormick and Regional initiatives through broker sales teams leading to the achievement of regional sales and profit objectives. The role reports to a Sales Director and requires residing on the East Coast (MD, DE, VA, NJ, NC) with ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
Responsibilities- Train sales managers and 3rd party managers on execution of retail activities within the assigned geographies; educate brokers on McCormick products, policies, and expectations for in‑store execution.
- Lead broker retail management calls, new‑item speed‑to‑shelf and merchandising activities; serve as primary communication source with brokers and 3rd‑party field managers regarding coverage, call content, merchandising standards, and competitive activity reporting.
- Analyze broker activities on calls; evaluate new‑item speed‑to‑shelf and merchandising performance.
- Conduct regular retail training store calls and set expectations for in‑store execution.
- Communicate retail expectations, execution, and results to Regional, Director, and Manager level.
- Plan and execute quarterly retail broker meetings and presentation development; coordinate regular coverage team meetings with brokers and 3rd‑party providers to maintain seasonal focus across the portfolio and motivate teams to improve sales results.
- Plan and conduct retail audits and market audit tours; stay current on market changes to inform marketing, sales, and promotional planning.
- Oversee retail execution of McCormick programs; identify opportunities to increase sales; assist Director of Retail Operations and Training in identifying gaps and opportunities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Business, Marketing, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in sales and/or analytics with merchandising knowledge of products, consumer and trade promotional plans, and retailer markets.
- 2+ years of experience working with Food Brokers, including systems and business processes.
- Analytical and project management skills.
- Strong understanding of sales, retail broker operations, and retail merchandising standards.
- In‑depth knowledge of McCormick product offerings.
- Ability to identify retail business opportunities and analyze complex information to develop strategies.
- Problem‑solving skills for monitoring broker KPIs such as speed to shelf, calls made/assigned, and merchandising.
- Excellent leadership, presentation, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Strong strategic and creative thinking.
- Relationship management, influencing, and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Extensive travel.

Compensation and BenefitsBase salary compensation will be determined based on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
