Water​/Sewer Maintenance Worker

Duties include, but are not limited to, the construction, maintenance and repair of the City's water and wastewater systems and storm sewers;
Operation of heavy equipment and vehicles;
Cleans drainage ditches, lines and manholes and cleans worksite after jobs are completed;
Installs service taps, new drain pipes, water lines, and meters;
Repairs and/or replaces old drain pipes, line breaks, water and sewer and faulty manholes; maintains grounds and buildings of water department installations, maintains equipment and machinery at lift stations. Responds to complaints and work requests from the public;
Responds to after hour emergencies;
Works with other utility departments when need arises. Responsible for regular and on-time attendance.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED and a Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License with acceptable driving record;
One (1) year experience in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer system maintenance is preferred. Must pass a background investigation, drug screen and physical.

Special Requirements

Must be able to obtain a Texas Class "B" CDL Driver's License within one (1) year of date of employment. Required to work irregular and/or extended hours, during nights, weekends and holidays. Required to be on call. Required to obtain within one (1) year of employment a State of Texas Class D Water Distribution and/or State of Texas Collections I certification depending on assignment
