Position

Spacecraft Harness Electrical Design Engineer (Experienced or Lead) – Seal Beach, CA

Role within Boeing Defense Space & Security’s Experimental Systems Group (ESG). ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains and is an extremely fast‑paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio includes the X‑37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable space plane, currently performing its eighth mission.

Position Responsibilities
  • Have a working knowledge of harness design and construction and be familiar with SAE AS50881, Wiring Aerospace Vehicle, and NASA‑STD 8739.4.
  • Work on projects at different phases of design maturity, from conceptual to operational.
  • Collaborate with harness routers to integrate logical elements with physical elements to produce a harness that will install and function properly at the next assembly.
  • Use program software design and release tools such as Teamcenter and Mentor Graphics.
  • Perform Response Engineer responsibilities, owning the hardware for all phases of the harness life cycle.
  • Work with suppliers and spacecraft factory operations in procurement and refurbishment of spacecraft systems for upcoming missions.
  • Provide engineering oversight of harness integration and functional testing on the spacecraft.
  • Work directly with manufacturing engineers, planners and technicians to plan and execute integration and test activity.
  • Develop harness specifications and test procedures.
  • Read and interpret complex heritage drawings and coordinate revisions and configuration changes with the design team as needed to support future missions.
  • Perform real‑time troubleshooting and issue resolution, including disposition of non‑conformances (NCs).
Additional Information

Location: 100% onsite at the listed location.

Security Clearance: Requires ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance and a final U.S. Top Secret/SCI clearance pre‑start.

Relocation: Offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Shift: 1st shift.

Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
  • 9+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Pay & Benefits

Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Summary pay range for Experienced: $119,850 – $162,150. Summary pay range for Lead: $146,200 – $197,800. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
