OverviewBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced 787 Payloads/Interiors Service Engineer to join our team in Seal Beach, CA. This role supports Boeing’s full suite of commercial aircraft and covers airline support, playing a critical part in keeping us at the forefront of aerospace engineering and innovation.
Primary Responsibilities- Work directly with airline customers to address and resolve in‑service airplane system issues related to Payloads, Interiors, Cargo Handling, and Water Waste systems.
- Act as a liaison and coordinate with various engineering and technical disciplines to address customer concerns.
- Provide technical, design, and informational support for basic production, product support, or in‑service issues. Troubleshoot basic system problems consistent with operational protocols.
- Support analysis, definition, and verification of basic requirements. May modify basic requirements based on defined parameters using approved processes and tools.
- Support and/or create and provide basic technical documentation (e.g., Fleet Team Digest articles, service letters, drawings, specifications, documents, data sets, design folders, test requirements documents, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery.
- Assist with the study and assessment of technology development by gathering data, supporting testing, and documenting findings.
- Support review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation, participating in design reviews, and observing tests and audits to ensure compliance.
- Assist with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.
- Support research of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
- Assist in designing and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non‑conformances.
- Assist in the development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain flexibility to address emergent issues and important airline meetings off‑hours; may require occasional off‑shift work to support the fleet operating 24/7/365.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Materials Sciences).
- 3+ years of engineering experience.
- Experience with Interiors and Payloads systems.
- Ability to present to senior leadership.
- Aptitude for collaborating with multiple team functions.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 10% of the time.
- Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.
- Desire to continuously improve our airplanes.
- Strong communication skills in written and verbal English.

Pay & Benefits: Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Eligible employees may enroll in health, flexible spending, retirement, life, and disability insurance programs, and paid or unpaid time‑off options. Pay range for Level 3: $111,350 – $150,650.
