Structural Analysis Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior)
Location:
Seal Beach, CA. The role is part of the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Customer Support Operations Center, supporting 24/7/365 operations.
- Develop structural repairs on all Boeing and MD series models
- Develop static and fatigue analyses for primary and secondary structures
- Collaborate with customers via verbal and written communications
- Communicate with Boeing and customer executive leadership
- Perform review of customer requests and determine the best avenue for resolution
- Provide repair solutions and approval forms to customers
- Collaborate with multiple Boeing teams to develop repair solutions
- Review outgoing customer messages to ensure content and quality
- Initiate proactive repair solutions across the Boeing fleet
- Analyze and develop substantiation packages for repairs and/or fly‑on limits
- Research technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer
- Assess incoming customer communications to resolve potential fleet safety issues
- Help customers keep their aircraft flying safely by addressing urgent “Aircraft On Ground” (AOG) issues
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- 5+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- 3+ years experience with airplane structural analysis (static/fatigue)
- 9+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- 3+ years experience working with composite and/or metallic structures
- 3+ years of aircraft design and/or repair experience
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and writing
- Experience with Boeing aircraft data
- Experience with CSW, IAS, and other BCA tools
- Experience working with and supporting customers (e.g. Airlines, Operators, Lessors)
- Prior experience with AOG resolution
- Leading structural analysis teams
- Damage Tolerance analysis
Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred accreditation standard, although not required.
