Experienced Software Engineer, Developer

About the Role

We are seeking an Experienced Software Engineer to join the National Systems Programs (NSP) software capability team, located in Seal Beach, California. The role focuses on supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security and will involve full‑stack development on AWS infrastructure. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, design scalable solutions, and contribute across the product life‑cycle from concept through maintenance.

• Develop, test and maintain web applications that comply with industry, customer, safety and regulation standards.
• Translate customer requirements into initial software designs, maintaining architecture, interfaces and documentation.
• Enhance and optimize software products and integrations, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Participate in the agile development cycle: planning, reviews, customer meetings and performance tuning.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, responding to user inquiries and incorporating feedback.
• Introduce and evaluate emerging technologies, tools and frameworks; adapt to regulatory changes.
• Lead process improvement, tooling and metrics aligned with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
• Conduct software research, advise on domains and regulations, and manage supplier performance.
• Perform cost‑benefit analysis to guide technical solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated polygraph (or active clearance within the past 24 months).
• 2+ years of experience in Python, 2+ years in JavaScript/Type Script (including React), and 2+ years of foundation‑level computer science knowledge.
• Strong grasp of software architecture, design patterns and relational databases.
• Experience in agile principles, structured development processes and infrastructure tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
• Background developing regression test suites and managing distributed systems.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor of Science (engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science or CS) with ≥5 years of related work, or equivalent years of experience (e.g., 9+ years or 13+ years of directly related work).
• Preferred:
  Experience on space‑based or ground‑based mission‑critical systems.
