Position Overview
Structural Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Senior) – Structural Analysis. We are seeking a senior or experienced engineer to support Airframe Customer Support Engineering for our Commercial Airplanes (BCA) in Seal Beach, CA. The role focuses on providing support for the aging McDonnell Douglas (MDC) fleet, addressing static and damage‑tolerance analysis, crack‑growth modeling, and direct customer coordination.
Responsibilities- Reviews and approves engineering data that supports airframe repairs and service bulletins for Boeing aircraft.
- Performs detailed structural analysis (static strength, durability/fatigue and damage tolerance) to determine structural integrity and safety margins using classical techniques and Boeing tools.
- Supports responses to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation, regulatory agency coordination, and regulatory compliance.
- Researches and prepares data to support the definition of structural design requirements.
- Responds to emergent requests for safety of flight decisions.
- Accounts for customer impact of solutions and provides temporary repair options when a permanent repair is not feasible.
- Develops, deploys, and supports in‑house and commercial application software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Materials Sciences).
- 5+ years of experience in structural analysis.
- Willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.
- 9+ years of experience with structural analysis methods and repair principles (fatigue, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, material strength, repair techniques, damage‑tolerance methods).
- 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical knowledge in system controls, mechanical systems, systems modeling, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with Microsoft and commercial structural analysis tools.
Competitive base pay with variable compensation opportunities. Pay ranges:
- Level 3 (Experienced): $117,900 – $144,100
- Level 4 (Senior): $143,100 – $174,900
- Level 5 (Senior): $175,500 – $214,500
