Experienced Design Engineer – Mechanical Flight Controls
Position:
Level 3 Design Engineer, Mechanical Flight Controls.
Location:
Seal Beach, CA.
- Serve as Responsible Engineer on the Continued Operational Safety Program and Safety Related Problem projects.
- Support BCA production, BGS modifications, BGS Boeing Converted Freighter program, and engineering changes for OoP aircraft.
- Provide design solutions to Service Engineering for BCS and other fleet issues.
- Travel 10% domestically and internationally as required.
- Perform new detail design and troubleshoot in-service issues.
- Develop and document airplane components: gearboxes, cable-system components, pilot controls (column, wheel, rudder pedals, switches), torque tubes, linkages, ball-screws, sensors.
- Engage in primary flight controls, high‑lift systems, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Define requirements, conduct analysis, use CAD/CAM (CATIA) and modeling tools (Simulink, EASY5).
- Participate in design reviews, prepare technical presentations for executive review boards.
- Coordinate with suppliers, define verification methods, participate in testing.
- Assist with certification activities with regulatory agencies.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of aerospace mechanical flight controls engineering experience, specifically in commercial airplane programs.
- 2+ years of experience with CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and/or DELMIA.
- 2+ years of experience on a commercial aircraft program.
- Current Design Engineering Approver (preferred).
- Advanced degree in Engineering or related field (preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication; experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Collaborative skills; experience reviewing/approving Service Bulletins.
- Willingness to expand into new technical areas.
- Must satisfy Conflict of Interest assessment and be Drug‑Free Workplace compliant.
Competitive base pay and variable compensation, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and paid/unpaid leave. Pay range: $124,100 – $167,900 based on experience and qualifications.
