Hydro-Mechanical Systems Service Engineer (Associate or Experienced)

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an engineer to join our team in Seal Beach, CA. The role supports customers' operations for most Boeing Commercial Airplane models, primarily the 737NG/MAX fleets. The engineer will collaborate directly with airline customers to resolve issues related to aircraft hydro‑mechanical systems, actuation, components, pumps, and motors.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Act as liaison and coordinate with engineering and technical disciplines to address customer concerns.
  • Provide technical, design, and informational support for in‑service issues.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic system problems consistent with operational protocols.
  • Support analysis, definition, and verification of basic requirements; may modify basic requirements using approved processes and tools.
  • Support creation and provision of technical documentation such as Fleet Team Digest articles, service letters, drawings, specifications, documents, data sets, design folders, test requirement documents, and manuals in accordance with engineering processes and procedures.
  • Assist in studying and assessing technology development by gathering data, supporting testing, and documenting findings.
  • Review design, analysis, and production documentation and observe tests and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate problems to provide engineering disposition of discrepancies.
  • Create and provide solutions for technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer alone.
  • Assist in design and/or analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to conduct root‑cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non‑compliances.
  • Assist in development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Work non‑standard shifts to support the 24/7/365 operation of the fleet and travel domestically or internationally approximately 10 % of the time.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or Materials Sciences).
  • 3+ years of experience with hydraulic systems, hydro‑mechanical components, or related fields.
  • Able and willing to work outside the standard first shift to support 24/7/365 operations; occasionally required on Saturday and Sunday.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
  • Level 3: 5+ years of experience with hydraulic systems, hydro‑mechanical components, or related fields.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally 10 % of the time.
  • Ability to present to senior leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple team functions.

Pay and Benefits

Pay ranges as of 2026:
Associate (Level 2) $90,950 – $123,050;
Experienced (Level 3) $111,350 – $150,650. Compensation includes competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Eligible employees receive a Total Rewards package that may include health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and paid and unpaid time off at varying eligibility options by location and circumstances.
