Java Software Engineer (Associate, Experienced or Senior) – Bixby Software Team

Security Clearance:
Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI. This role supports Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization working on classified programs for the Experimental Systems Group (ESG).

• Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial design of software products.
• Develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software products and functionalities for system integrations.
• Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products.
• Debug and resolve issues identified to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products.
• Handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze user feedback.
• Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
• Develop, establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
• Execute and document software research and development projects.
• Advise on software domains, system‑specific issues, processes, and regulations.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain non‑embedded software throughout the end‑to‑end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
• 1+ year of development experience using React
  
  JS.
• 2+ years of development experience using Java.
• 2+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• 2+ years of experience with Java and associated frameworks and tools such as Spring Boot, Wild Fly, JPA, and Maven.
• 2+ years of experience using Agile methodologies.
• Experience with application Dev Ops tools, such as Git Lab (CI/CD), Git Bash, Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, and Artifactory.

• Level3:
  Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience.
• Level4:
  Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Java, React, and C++.
• 5+ years of experience in Windows, Linux, and AWS environments.
• 5+ years of experience in Windows‑based IDEs, Linux‑based IDEs, Maven, Git, and Git Lab.
• 2+ years of experience in AWS environments.
• 2+ years of experience using Agile methodologies and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket).
• Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes.
• Understanding of the relationship between specifications/standards.
• Knowledge of software programming languages and databases with the ability to apply them to the software domain.
• Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub‑system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies.
• Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints.
• Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in development, testing, and deployment of software.
• Knowledge of general and software development and testing tools, capabilities, and usage.
