Instructor of Nursing - (Regional Career Center)
The Instructor of Nursing position is a full-time twelve (12) month nursing education faculty member for the Nursing program on the ASU-Searcy campus. The selected faculty member will be able to teach all phases of the Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing Programs: supervise clinical practice; supervise extra help clinical instructors, as needed; teach other health-related classes, and assist with the evening and weekend classes and activities as required.
The candidate should strive for continual improvement of student success by planning an optimal learning environment; providing high quality instruction and advising; participating in the development of learning outcomes and in the assessment of students as well as of self and applied teaching techniques in order to increase effectiveness; and engaging in ongoing professional development.
Essential duties and responsibilities include preparing and reading over assigned lesson plans, presenting lesson plans to students, administering and grading tests and student assignments, advising students, supervising students in all aspects of clinical education, working closely with supervisor regarding nursing education teaching materials, ordering needed supplies to teach required material, working with supervisor regarding materials being presented and problems encountered, clinical supervision of client care by students, making clinical assignments for students based upon students' knowledge level and abilities, calculating student grades, collaborating with faculty and administration on curriculum development, revision, and updates, attending nursing faculty and department meetings, division meetings, and advisory meetings, traveling to other ASU-Beebe campuses and clinical sites for teaching and meetings, assisting students with all invasive procedures performed on clients at clinical sites, and performing any other related duties as required or assigned.
Required qualifications include a registered nurse with an unencumbered license in Arkansas, an associate's degree in nursing, and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends.
Minimum salary or salary range is $51,233.
Physical activities include standing continuously, walking continuously, sitting frequently, using hands to finger, handle, or feel regularly, reaching with hands and arms regularly, climbing or balancing frequently, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling regularly, talking or hearing continuously, tasting or smelling frequently.
Physical exertion includes up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 100 pounds occasionally, more than 100 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
This position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal, sex-offender registry background check. In cases where pre-determined, an additional financial/credit history/background check may be required as well. Convictions that have been sealed or legally eradicated and misdemeanor convictions for which probation was completed and the case was dismissed, will be excluded. Disclosure does not constitute an automatic bar to employment. Factors such as dates of the offense, seriousness and nature of the violation, rehabilitation and position applied for will be taken into account.
